The First Graders will be busy little elves this week. We are making Hershey Kiss treat bags for the residents at Montgomery Nursing Home. I will deliver those on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Christmas book marks were mailed to the Veterans Hospital over the weekend and are sure to bring some well deserved smiles to the residents there.
Thank you for your generous gifts for the 4- 5 year old boy and girl. I was able to make 4 bags
because you donated so many gifts!!
The class is working in pairs to write and illustrate their own Nativity Story. I am very pleased at how hard they are working and how well they are working together.
Our Spelling words this week are: going, because, new, have, this said, make were, that, many
No Spelling Test ...we will be doing word study activities with the words during the week.

Week of December 13th!!
The First Graders did a wonderful job singing in our Christmas show!
Spelling- (long a words) bake flake shake snake make gate late plate skate state
There will be a test on Friday!
Please look for the letter coming home about our Happy Birthday to Jesus party on Thursday, December 23rd.
The 1st and 2nd Graders are having a Christmas Prayer Service for the school on the 23rd as well.
We are making Christmas bookmarks for the Veterans this Tuesday.
Our Math test scheduled for last Friday will be on Wednesday. It will include adding sums to 6 and simple word problems.
We will be making treat bags for the Montgomery Nursing Home next Monday.

Week of December 6th!!

Spelling words-(short u) nut mug duck truck plug slug plump jump skunk shrunk
The Feast Day of St. Nicholas is on Monday, December 6th! Ask your child what St. Nick left in their shoe. We will be talking about the The Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
Please remember to send back the information for your family tree. We will be putting those together on Thursday.
Ask your child about the Advent Wreath and Jesse Tree that we do together each day.
The Christmas cards the children made for our soldiers went out and I know they will make our brave soldiers smile. They wrote the most heartfelt sentiments...I was so proud!
We wil be making ornaments for the Veterans Hospital as our "giving project " this week.

We have begun our unit on addition and the students wrote a basic addition story with illustrations. We will have our first addition test on Friday with sums to 6.
