Hope you had a wonderful long weekend and you are rested and healthy. I was out on Thursday as I too was not feeling well.
Thursday is our 100th Day of School Celebration! Don't forget to send in the bags filled with 100 things! We will be doing many activities this week in all subject areas to celebrate this fun day!
Spelling- I sent home a list of 100 review words and we will be doing all sorts of activities with these words.
Usually on Monday the class writes the words 3x each. Don't worry..I wouldn't dream of having them write 300 words!! They will choose 10 words from the list and use them in a full and complete sentence. They will do this in their Spelling notebook.
We will have a class Spelling Bee on Friday with the words.
Please let me know if you would like to come speak with the class on Friday about your job as we will continue our study on communities and our part in them.
The students will be writing about what it would be like to be 100 years old and what they might look like! Can't wait to see these!
The class wrote about what they would do if they were the president. Very cute! They will be coming home this week.
We will be finishing up our unit on 1 digit addition and will be moving to subtraction next week. Most of the class has a firm grip on the addition facts but there are a few who still need practice. We will continue reviewing.
Please continue to read each night with your child!
Have a great week!

I delivered our Hershey Kiss Treat Bags to the Montgomery Nursing Home on Friday! The class made heart cards and attached them to the bags! The class enjoyed making them as I am sure the residents enjoyed eating them! Thank you to all who sent in bags of Hershey Kisses!!
On Thursday I dropped the Prayer Blanket the class made for the homeless shelter at the Newburgh Ministry. This class has a wonderful giving spirit!
Congratulations to our 3 Spelling Bee participants...Daimen, Joseph, Clare! They were GREAT!

Our test will be on Thursday because there is no school on Friday.
Math- We are continuing 3 digit addition along with word problems. Word problems are always a bit challenging so that is an ongoing area of study and review.
Test on Wednesday
Reading- Our 3 Reading groups are very fluid so do not be surprised if your child tells you that they moved into or out of a particular group. I need to make adjustments as skills change.
Please try to read with your child each night.
Your child will be coming home this week with a sheet about community. Please help your child fill this out. I am organizing an Occupations Day for the First Grade. Please take a look at the form and let me know if you are interested in participating!
Ask your child what they would do if they were the President of the United States. They will be writing about that this week
Ask you child to sing the song we learned in Religion about the disciples in the boat and Jesus calming the storm. They will be painting murals of that Bible story.
Have a wonderful week!!!
No school on 2/18 and 2/21!
